Gluten Free in Positano: Ristorante Bruno

Positano is a dream destination for many, and for a very good reason. The views are breathtaking and somewhat surreal. What better then to enjoy a lovely meal surrounded by such beauty? You have many options in Positano – but none that are 100% gluten free. Do note as well that the prices are really high in this little town. It is a major tourist destination, and you will notice overcrowded restaurants with steep prices. I tried looking for gluten free safe places, and there were not too many. Restaurant Bruno, however, was able to offer gluten free dishes, fantastic view and somewhat decent prices (compared to other places).

Details of Establishment:

Name: Ristorante Bruno
Type
:  Restaurant
Location: Via Cristoforo Colombo, 157, 84017 Positano, Italy
Tips: Great views along the road!

Gluten free or not gluten free observations:

Item(s) ordered: Seafood gnocchi with complimentary gluten free bread
GF observation: The menu is not allergen marked. You need to rely on the feedback from the staff. I was unsure if the staff understood my needs, but after I had ordered a spaghetti the staff had gone to the kitchen to double check and informed me that since there could be traces of gluten due to cross contamination, they recommended another pasta on the menu.

Celiac safety: This is not a 100% gluten free establishment, thus you should always be careful in terms of cross contamination risks. Make sure that the staff understands that you have Celiac disease.

Overall comment: It is a place with an amazing view, both at day time and night time. The service is good and staff are attentive. They do have gluten free options and take your dietary restriction seriously.

Disclaimer: The above is based on the personal experience and opinion of a Celiac traveler. For eating places, you should still inquire about the gluten free options and ingredients as recipes, kitchen routines, staff and management may have changed. Only places marked “100% Celiac safe” are confirmed free from cross contamination. This post is not sponsored.
