Gluten Free in Rome: Achille al Pantheon by Habana

Date

A lot of the restaurants around the Pantheon will try to lure you in, and many of them are not very good. This restaurant has good reviews online, and it also has set menus you can choose from (in addition to ala carte). I found this to be a good gluten free deal in expensive Rome. The staff are also friendly and accommodating. By the way, did I mention they give you a free welcome drink?

Details of Establishment:

Name: Achille al Pantheon by Habana
Type:  Restaurant
Location: Via dei Pastini, 120, 00186 Roma, Italy
Tips: The set menus actually give you full size dishes (2-3 course), which can turn out to be almost a feast.

Gluten free or not gluten free observations:

Item(s) ordered: Set menu with risotto and BBQ fish
GF observation: The menu is not allergen marked and you need to ask the staff if they can cater to your food restrictions. They were very accommodating here and were patient with me asking over and over about the allergens.

Celiac safety: This is not a 100% gluten free establishment, so be careful with cross contamination. Inform the staff if you have Celiac disease.

Overall comment: Located on a busy walking street, it is a perfect place to people watch or just taking in the ambiance. The service is good and attentive, and the servings are big.

Disclaimer: The above is based on the personal experience and opinion of a Celiac traveler. For eating places, you should still inquire about the gluten free options and ingredients as recipes, kitchen routines, staff and management may have changed. Only places marked “100% Celiac safe” are confirmed free from cross contamination. This post is not sponsored.
