Ronda is a magical place, almost taken out of a fairy tale. Several restaurants offer gluten free options near the main attractions, but if you walk a little further you will come across a plaza where locals seem to prefer to eat. It is lively, cozy and romantic. El Zucio is one of several restaurants located in the plaza and has both indoor and outdoor seating.
Details of Establishment:
Name: El Zucio
Type: Restaurant
Location: Plaza Ruedo Alameda, 19, 29400 Ronda, Spain
Tips: Sit outside to feel part of the lively atmosphere.
Gluten free or not gluten free observations:
Item(s) ordered: Tuna salad + steak
GF observation: The menu is not allergen marked, thus you need to ask the staff what dishes are safe for you. They were very accommodating when I visited and guided me through the options on the menu. I informed the owner who also made sure the waiters knew about my dietary restrictions. I received gluten free bread with my order, which was a nice touch.
Celiac safety: This is not a 100% gluten free establishment. Therefore, you need to be careful when it comes to cross contamination. Inform the staff if you have Celiac disease.
Overall comment: A cosy restaurant in a lovely area. It is a little bit of a walk from the bridge, but well worth it if you ask me. The restaurant is a little on the pricier side, but you will feel like you earned it after the walk and want to enjoy a gluten free meal in Ronda.
