100 % Gluten Free

Budapest is a city of several establishments that are completely gluten free. That means no worry about cross contamination!

DROP RESTAURANT

Pasta at Drop Restaurant

This is THE gluten free restaurant in Budapest you must try. They do not only have gluten free options, every single item on the menu is in fact gluten free. Doesn’t get better than that, right? Read more here.

FREE BAKERY

Bakery goods at Free Pekseg

This 100% gluten free bakery in Budapest is small, but with a big heart. A good selection of gluten free goodies. They have a bakery both in the Buda and the Pest parts of town. Read more here.

CÖLI BISZTRÓ

Coli Bisztro gluten free cinnamon bun

Cöli Bisztró is a 100% gluten free eating place. You can find everything here from pizza to bakery goods and gluten free products (such as cookies, crackers, spaghetti etc). Read more here.

MANIOKA GLUTÉNMENTES PÉKSÉG

Some goodies at Manioka

This is a 100% gluten free bakery and cafe that you will have a hard time finding. It did not show up on any searches I made on google maps, and only randomly stumbled across it. But boy was it a find! Read more here.

SZEDERINDA GLUTÈMENTES

When I went to this bakery it was sadly closed, so I unfortunately did not manage to taste any of the goodies. However, you can read more here.

Places with Gluten Free Options on the Menu

These are places that have “GLUTEN FREE” marked specifically on their menus, either in a separate section or through allergen marking. (Always keep in mind that cross contamination could be a risk for Celiacs at any establishment that is not 100% Celiac friendly).

FITTNASS SUGARFREE PATISSERIE

Cake from Fittnass Sugarfree Patisserie

If you are craving for gluten free cakes and also do not want sugar in your goodies, this place has many good options (personally I prefer sugar in my cakes). All cakes are sugarfree and most are gluten free and lactose free as well. Read more here.

LONDON COFFEE SOCIETY

Gluten free hummus at London Coffee Society

London Coffee Society is a very popular cafè that offers breakfast all day – and gluten free bread. This was you can get more or less every breakfast item according to your dietary needs. Read more about the cafe here.

CAFE INTENZO

Food at Cafe Intenzo

Picture yourself eating at a little alley away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city life. That can be arranged at the garden terrace of Cafe Intenzo. Not only do they have great food, but you can easily find the gluten free dishes. Read more about the restaurant here.

INDIGO (PEST)

Food at Indiego

A good gluten free option when in Budapest. The prices are a little steep, but the servings are also a little bigger than normal. The menu is clearly allergen marked. Read more about the restaurant here.

THE FAT FAIRY

Cakes at Fat Fairy

When in search of gluten free options in Budapest, this is one of many good places to check out. Plenty of cakes to choose from, and the coffee is not bad either. Read more about it here.

KISPARAZS

Gluten free green curry

The menu has allergens marked, so you do not have to stress with explaining your dietary restriction. Most of the items on the menu do contain gluten, but around 5-6 dishes are gluten free. Read more here.

FUNKY PHÒ

Funky pho Budapest

A very popular Vietnamese restaurant. Personally I prefer the below mentioned phò place over this one, but this establishment does have gluten free allergen markings on the menu. Read more here.

REFUGE BISTRO

I have not visited this restaurant myself, but I have heard some places that it is 100% gluten free while other places state that it has gluten free options. I have seen one menu from December 2018 where gluten free was mentioned on several of the items. Read more here.

Places with Gluten Free Options when you Ask

At these places I was helped in finding dishes that were naturally gluten free or the establishment changed their ingredients for me to make a dish gluten free. Note that cross contamination could be a risk for Celiacs.

LAM ANH PHO

Gluten free option pho

There are many items on the menu to choose from, but you need to check with the staff what is safe for you. I always go for the one option I know is safe – which is the phò. Healthy, tasty and warming. A great gluten free option. Read more about the place here.

Final notes

These are just some of the many places offering gluten free meals in Budapest. Good luck finding some secret gems of your own on your adventure!
